In Christ Alone: “There Is Salvation in No One Else”
(Acts 4:12) -
72nd Annual Faulkner Lectures - 2016

February 28 – March 3, 2016

How inclusive is the gospel? Jesus tells us to go into all the world and make disciples (Matt. 28:18-19). The golden text of the Bible states that everyone who believes in Jesus will be saved (John 3:16). The apostle Paul says that the message of salvation is for everyone, both Jew and Gentile (Rom. 1:16). The book of Acts in the New Testament reveals that people of diverse backgrounds, ethnicity, and culture  were saved (e.g., Romans, Jews, and Greeks). Such inclusiveness is good news to us all. However, we must not confuse the inclusive nature of the gospel with the exclusive source that saves–Jesus Christ. Jesus states very emphatically, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me” (John 14:6). Salvation is truly found in Christ alone: “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Join us at Faulkner University for a week of presentations, seminars, and workshops designed to enrich and to encourage the soul. Keynote sessions in the mornings and evenings will address the theme of salvation in Christ alone.

As powerful as the keynote presentations will be, the schedule will also include a variety of relevant topics and dynamic speakers that will be worth the trip to Montgomery, Ala. There will also be several specialized tracks on the program.

Each morning at 8:00, presentations will begin with “Christ and Modern Scholarship.” Women’s sessions will examine “Women Who Encountered Christ.” “Christ as a Preacher” will be a three-day series covering how the Son of God was effective in proclaiming the Truth. A two-day track will focus on the subject “Sin Destroys, But God Offers Life through Christ.” A one-day seminar will challenge college students:  “Get Out of the Cage and Learn to Engage.” There will also be a three-day series on “The History of the English Bible.” On Monday afternoon, speakers of Friends of the Restoration will make presentations which will end with an evening banquet. Faulkner University was the first college in the brotherhood  to host the Friends of the Restoration program; it is still going strong today, and we are glad to have it as a permanent part of the Faulkner Lectures. On Thursday, the Jones School of Law will conduct a “Church and Law” seminar. Many other speakers will address timely topics that will enrich the soul and spur Christians to achieve great things in the kingdom of God. Come and be a part of this great spiritual feast.

Embedded in the Faulkner Lectures each year is the Youth and Family Ministry Summit which is designed to equip youth and family ministers for the important and essential work that they do for the kingdom of God. We have gathered experienced and innovative speakers who are making a difference to share their wisdom, vision, and ministry principles. The summit has grown in attendance each year. Paul Spurlin, John Podein, and Ryan Gallagher have coordinated the event for full impact.
